Hello and welcome to my blog! I created this to share all the tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years as a working mom of 5. People often ask me, “How do you do it all?”, and I’ll say that while yes, it’s definitely hard work, having a slew of tricks and shortcuts up your sleeve will go a long way to making things easier.
When I first became a mom, I had been a young stay-at-home-wife with plenty of “me time”, and absolutely zero self-discipline. I had no cooking skills, no financial sense, no clue about how to budget or manage my time. Basically, I was a mess!
So, let’s talk for a minute about what budgeting is, and what I mean when I talk about budgeting as a broader concept. We most commonly know budgeting to refer to finances and how to maximize what we have in our bank accounts every month. But this is just one aspect of budgeting. On my blog, we’ll be thinking about ALL of the resources we have at hand, and how to maximize each of those. These resources could be the time you have within a day, the energy you feel you can devote to doing what you need to do, or budgeting the food we have in our kitchens. Basically, I consider each resource that we have available to us every single day, as something we have to consciously decide how we’re going to manage it best and most effectively.
Over the course of 3 years, I had three more little ones, in addition to my oldest step-son. Suddenly, I found myself a mom of 5 who depended on me to budget, cook, organize, while also being the sole breadwinner while my husband went to school to pursue his psychology degree.
I’m hoping to share some of the many, many things I learned along the way that made my life so much easier. And hopefully, they can help you also!
